If you’re a fan of the New Orleans Saints, you might have some unfettered access to your favorite football team to look forward to in August if a report from Pro Football Talk is accurate.
According to the report, the Saints are currently “front runners” to be chosen by the NFL to appear on HBO’s hit series, “Hard Knocks” this offseason.
“The Saints are one of seven teams that can be forced to do it, under criteria the league developed several years ago. Only teams that: (1) have a new coach; (2) have been to the postseason in either of the last two years; or (3) have served as the Hard Knocks subject within the last 10 years can say no. This year, the teams that can’t decline are the Saints, Bills, Bears, Jaguars, Raiders, Chargers, and Rams.”
“Hard Knocks,” which has been on the air since intermittently since 2001, goes behind the scenes one NFL team from training camp through their first preseason games.
Most NFL teams shy away from the program as they don’t want to air their dirty laundry or any possible strategies they may be taking going into the season to other teams and coaches.
However, per the league’s rules, the New Orleans Saints may be stepping onto the premium cable small screen whether they like it or not.
Bryan Altman is, for some reason, an unabashed fan of the Rangers, Jets and Mets. If he absolutely had to pick a basketball team it would be the Knicks, but he’d gladly trade them for just one championship for any of his other three teams.
