Notre Dame vs. Ohio State
Spread: Ohio State -6
Spread: Oh what could have been for both Ohio State and Notre Dame. Unfortunately for these college football powerhouses the committee had better options despite each having legitimate resumes to be in the playoff. Now it comes down to which team cares more about the Fiesta Bowl than the other. The smartest guess would be to say neither will particularly care about playing in a game that has little meaning to high prized recruits who wanted to play in a National Championship. The good news is, if neither shows up, we’re back to square one. Ohio State has the better run game, better passing game, better WR’s, and better overall defense. That enough to cover a touchdown? Yeah, should be. Pick: Ohio State -6
Total: Both teams have excellent offensive lines and should be able to move the ball on the ground. It could lead to a shorter game, but more than likely what it will do is force each defense to crash down and bring extra men in the box and open up the wide array of excellent receivers on both ends to make big time plays. The Buckeyes haven’t allowed more than 28 points in a game this season, but the Irish scored less than 28 just twice in twelve games. Once again, motivation will play a major role in the outcome of the game. Lack of motivation usually favors offense and will certainly be the case in this one. It will take great efforts from both defenses for this game to stay under the total, it’s unlikely that will happen. Pick: Over 57
