Texas Bowl
LSU vs. Texas Tech

Spread: LSU -7
Total: 73.5

Spread: For a minute there it looked like LSU was headed to the college football playoff, then a loss at Alabama sent the Tigers into a downward spiral. It almost appeared as if they gave up on the season losing three of their final four and barely squeaking by Texas A&M in the finale. That’s a terrible sign going into a bowl game against a fantastic offense. Obviously, the Tigers will lean heavily on Leonard Fournette and the Red Raiders will not be able to stop him, but if LSU can’t defend, it won’t matter how good Fournette plays. Motivation will be crucial to this football game. If LSU plays like they care, they’ll win easily, but don’t expect them to in a bowl game that not a single guy on the roster wants to be in. Pick: Texas Tech +7

Total: If indeed we get the uninspired Tigers, this game should fly over the total. Texas Tech is going to score some whether LSU is ready to play or not, but they could push 50 if LSU isn’t focused defensively. Texas Tech won’t have any answer for Fournette and that should open things up for the poor passing game lead up by Brandon Harris. The throws should be easy enough for Harris though that he’ll be able to limit his mistakes and simply let Fournette do the bulk of the work. Texas Tech’s offense can’t be stopped, but it can be slowed if there’s pressure on the QB. If you don’t agree that LSU will be unfocused, then go the other way. But if they don’t show up, there’s no telling how many the Red Raiders will put up. Pick: Over 73.5
