Abby Wambach is a legend of the United States women’s soccer team and will wrap up her illustrious career tonight in New Orleans when the team takes on China.  She has been a key cog in the USWNT for the last 14 years and many young girls have looked up to her as an idol.

As her final game nears, Wambach, in a commercial produced by Gatorade, has a strong message to that younger generation of female soccer players: Forget Me. In the video Wambach explains why that is necessary in order for the USWNT to reach new heights.

That may be easier said than done, considering that Wambach made 252 appearances for the team and scored 184 goals in that span. That’s not to mention the two Olympic gold medals and this past summer’s World Cup win. That said, it’s a very empowering message to the young girls coming up today.

Wambach had a different message for US Soccer when it comes to the men’s team.  She said earlier on The Bill Simmons Podcast that they should fire coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

The US takes on China tonight at 8 pm on Fox Sports 1.
