It took some time, but Jared Sullinger of the Celtics is finally becoming the player that everyone thought he would be. A highly-touted amateur player, Sullinger was the Naismith Prep Player of the Year and a two-time All-American at Ohio State. He’s battled injuries and conditioning issues his first three seasons but this year, which happens to be his contract year, he’s become one of the best rebounders in the NBA.

So what does Sullinger credit his rebounding ability to? Well at 6’9″ he isn’t the tallest power forward in the world and he certainly doesn’t out-leap many defenders; but Sullinger does have a unique gift which enables him to get great positioning on the boards. I’ll let Sullinger explain as told to Taylor Snow of Celtics.com:

“My mom. That’s a blessing my mom gave me; she gave me her booty, so I can give all the credit to my mama.”

Sullinger and his booty grabbed a career-high 20 boards vs. Anthony Davis and his lack-of-booty in the Celtics’ Monday win over the Pelicans. Sully has grabbed 36 rebounds over his last two games as the Celtics enter a showdown against the undefeated Warriors on Friday.

Sullinger’s posterior may be making waves this season, but it’s been a legend since at least November 2011. That’s when someone decided to create a Twitter account dedicated to Sully’s rear: @JSully_B00ty. The account’s description reads:

The official Twitter page of Jarred Sullinger’s Backside. Clearin room in the paint since 1992 with a greater gravitational pull than Jupiter.

The account hasn’t tweeted since Sullinger made his NBA debut but perhaps with his backside making headlines again, the user will return and campaign to send Sully, his booty, and hopefully his mother, to the All-Star game.
