Before the initial rankings for the College Football Playoff were even released weeks ago, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney made a promise that had many Clemson fans licking their chops. Swinney was asked about his team’s ranking once the initial CFP rankings would come out and he responded:

“The only poll that we’re excited about is Dec. 6, and I promise you we’ll have the biggest poll party you’ve seen. We’ll open up Death Valley and serve pizza to everybody.”

Time to pay up, Dabo.

Clemson secured the No. 1 seed in the final CFP rankings and thus, FREE PIZZA FOR EVERYONE!!!

Per CBS Sports, there were 2,500 pizza boxes with each pizza cut into eight slices. ESPN reported that there were 10 different Papa John’s franchises from five cities that contributed.

Now, it would be fitting if Clemson was headed to the PapaJohns.com Bowl (now called the Birmingham Bowl) but they are now headed to the Orange Bowl to take on #4 Oklahoma. This will be a rematch of last year’s Russell Athletic Bowl which Clemson won 40-6. You can certainly expect another party if the results are the same this time around.
