The Notre Dame Fighting Irish took the lead against the Stanford Cardinal with just 30 seconds in last night’s game in Northern California, thanks to DeShone Kizer’s touchdown run. Everything looked good for Notre Dame’s College Football Playoff chances at that point; however, it all came undone quickly as Stanford marched down the field and kicked the game-winning field goal in the final seconds to end Notre Dame’s hopes.
As expected for a team with such a large fan following, the Twitterverse lit up the night with reactions. The second half of the game was a back-and-forth affair with several lead changes, and inevitably, the team that had the ball last won the game. Follow that second half here with Twitter posts from fans and media tracking the game’s progress to the bitter end for the Irish.
