On the heels of announcing that 2016 will be his final MLB season; David Ortiz can likely expect a gift or two coming his way over the next year. But this week he was the one handing out gifts and the main beneficiary was Torii Hunter Jr. a wide receiver for Notre Dame.

As you would expect Hunter Jr. is the son of long-time MLB outfielder Torii Hunter, who also recently announced his retirement. Ortiz and the elder Hunter are long-time friends who played together for six seasons with the Minnesota Twins. Hunter Jr. affectionately refers to Ortiz as his “uncle” and Uncle Big Papi (or Uncle Papi) left his nephew a gift as Notre Dame comes to Fenway Park to play in the ‘Shamrock Series’ vs. Boston College. Ortiz put in a request through Notre Dame that specifically asked for Hunter Jr. to have his locker in the Fenway clubhouse. Notre Dame’s equipment manager agreed and posted a pic of the Ortiz/Hunter Jr. locker:

Definitely a cool gesture by Ortiz but I’m more interested in seeing whose locker cornerback Jesse Bongiovi (son of Jon Bon Jovi) receives. If the ‘nephew’ of a Red Sox player gets the star’s locker, then what does the son of a musician who was once sued for $400 billion by a Red Sox fan receive? Hopefully they don’t make Jesse dress outside.
