We’ve become used to players flopping in basketball, soccer, and sometimes hockey to try and draw a call from the officials. Rarely, if ever do we see it play out on the football field.
That takes us to Saturday night when Arkansas was in Tuscaloosa taking on the Crimson Tide. Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema got involved after a play went out of bounds on his sideline and got a call on the Tide after he seemingly got pushed by Tide defensive lineman Cam Robinson.
Except, after watching that video, Bielema looks to have instigated the “shove” by getting in front of Robinson. At which point Robinson halfheartedly extends his arms to move Bielema away from him and Bielema reacts as if he’s taking a charge. He then dances once the official throws a flag, which implies he was hoping to draw a penalty.
Unfortunately for Bielema, the Razorbacks lost 27-14 and fell to 2-4 on the year. But, you can’t say he didn’t try to help his team.
