All other contenders for catch of the day/week/year can just go home because Louisville’s James Quick may have just made the play of the year. It has a touch of David Tyree-helmet catch, except Quick did his with just one hand.

That’s taking the “back shoulder throw” to a whole another level. The degree of difficulty on that catch is Beckham-esque. Quick doesn’t even break stride to make the catch and he also even manages to stay in-bounds on the play. His name is fitting as he set the 200m state record in Kentucky while in high school but he showed he’s more than a track star on that play.

Quick, who was the highest rated recruit to ever sign with Louisville, hasn’t quite lived up to expectations through his junior season. But he flashed his world-class talent on that play and Louisville fans hope to see more of that.
