Like Rocky Marciano, Floyd Mayweather Jr, and the ’72 Dolphins; Father Time is undefeated. And Ernie Els just found that out on Thursday.

Playing at the Dunhill Links Championship in London, Els was faced with a gimme – a putt that was maybe one foot in distance. This would be a shoe-in for you, me, or any average Joe out there. For a four-time major champion and Hall of Fame golfer like Els? Nothing to it.

Right?

That wasn’t even close to being close. It didn’t even catch the rim of the cup and spin out. It didn’t even look like he knew where the cup was.

The 45 year old Els clearly isn’t the player he used to be. He hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since 2012 and finished the 2015 season as the 159th ranked player in the world. He still carries a big name but his game has been floundering for years (you could say that about another famous golfer). Perhaps age has caught up with his play and/or vision because The Big Easy made that look anything but easy.
