NBA media days have started which means we get to see the NBA stars back in front of the press for the first time since the season ended.  Media days are a time of endless optimism as everybody is starting fresh with a clean slate and any other sports cliche answer you can think of.  The players and coaches are usually armed to the teeth with these platitudes to satisfy the media without actually saying anything inflammatory. But, sometimes a question just catches a player off guard.

That was the case for the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant today.  The star forward is coming off an injury plagued season and looking forward to get back on the court, but then he was asked a question about Texas Longhorns football. His response?

It’s okay Longhorns fans, Kevin Durant knows how you feel. Charlie Strong’s squad has lost in heartbreaking fashion two weeks in a row and sit at 1-3 on the year. Typical reporter. Just had to bring the mood in the room down didn’t you? To be fair, we don’t know exactly what the reporter’s question was, it seems to be something along the lines of “Do you have any words of encouragement?” Regardless, Durant is clearly taking the losses hard.
