Over the last few years P.K. Subban has proven he’s one of the best and most exciting defensemen in all of hockey. While he has more than a few detractors outside of the Montreal area that don’t love his brash style of play and loquaciousness on the ice, he’ll probably have a few less haters after making “the biggest philanthropic commitment by a sports figure in Canadian history” to The Montreal Children’s Hospital, according to Sportsnet.ca.
Subban donated $10 million to the hospital, who in turn named their new three-story atrium after the Canadiens defenseman.
In addition to his incredible donation, Subban has agreed to be a spokesperson and help the hospital with fund raising efforts for the next seven years.
Last year Subban and the team agreed to an 8-year, $72 million contract, meaning Subban will spend at least the next seven years in Montreal barring a trade or other roster move.
Needless to say, that contract is a win for the city of Montreal on and off the ice.
Bryan Altman is, for some reason, an unabashed fan of the Rangers, Jets and Mets. If he absolutely had to pick a basketball team it would be the Knicks, but he’d gladly trade them for just one championship for either of his other three teams.
