When he’s not firing off diss tracks at Meek Mill or on tour, Drake can generally be found rooting for his hometown Toronto Raptors. Being from Toronto, Drake has been a face of the fan base over the past two years as the team has stormed back to relevance in the NBA. While at OVO fest on Monday, Drake performed while wearing a new OVO inspired version of the Raptors jersey that the team will wear during the upcoming season.
That jersey looks to be the alternate and the team will have new home and away jerseys featuring the same style. The Raptors fully debuted the new jerseys on their team website. A couple of takeaways, first the new threads feature only the team’s nickname not the city name because the team is branding themselves as Canada’s team (seeing as they’re the only NBA team in the country). Secondly, I like the reversible tag on the bottom of the jersey with the “We The North” slogan on it. It’s a small detail but a cool one.
As for the black and gold uni, I’m not usually a fan of teams using colors that aren’t part of their team color scheme, but the black and gold works for me. Overall, the jerseys have a pretty classic look, certainly better than some of the other jersey releases we’ve seen this summer. (Cough Clippers, cough cough Hawks).
