Early in the first quarter of the Chiefs’ game against the Colts, Chiefs starting quarterback Alex Smith took a hard hit to the head while attempting to slide after scrambling out of the pocket and was taken out of the game with an apparent head injury.
Shortly after Smith left the game an announcement was made in the press box that Smith is being evaluated for a concussion.
Smith and the Chiefs’ offense had seemingly settled into a great rhythm offensively over the last two weeks in wins over the Raiders and Saints. In both games Smith threw no interceptions and had quarterback ratings over 100 both times, so for the Chiefs hopefully Smith can return to the game.
Update: Smith returned to the game and was cleared but only to be forced out again after suffering another blow to the head in the second half. Smith has yet to return and no update has been given on his condition.
