Arizona’s Jerseys To Commemorate USS Arizona

The University of Arizona football team welcomes Hawai’i into Arizona Stadium this Saturday night. This game normally wouldn’t generate a ton of attention considering the two teams’ combined record is 2-3 so far this year, however, the Wildcats jerseys for the game deserve some buzz. The team will be commemorating the USS Arizona which was sunk during the deadly Pearl Harbor attacks on December 7, 1941.

As you can tell from the tweets, the uniforms will feature various different patches and nods to the USS Arizona and its crew, including having the ship’s hull number BB-39 as the nameplate on the back of every jersey. Even the color scheme itself is based on the ship, with the red pants leading up to the white tops. The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Network starting at 10:45 p.m. Eastern time.
