To say the No. 4-ranked Florida State Seminoles came out inspired in the second half of their game against the Ole Miss Rebels last night would be a huge understatement.
They were completely unstoppable.
The ‘Noles were down 22 points and were getting absolutely man-handled by the No. 13-ranked Rebels as the first half came to a close, but everything changed when the two teams emerged after the half.
The Seminoles were inspired, angry and ready to rumble and it just might have been because of their former star quarterback, Jameis Winston.
Winston, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback with the Seminoles, was spotted on the sidelines all night cheering his alma matter on.
And thanks to Showtime Sports’ exclusive access to the Seminoles for the entire college football season as a part of their “A Season With Florida State Football” series, there’s also footage of an impassioned Winston bearing his heart and soul in an inspiring locker room speech to the down, but clearly not out, Seminoles at halftime.
After halftime the Seminoles then rattled off 26 more points to open up the second half and come all the way back against Ole Miss and keep live up to their billing as a Top 5 team in the nation.
They went on to win the game 45-34.
You can catch the entirety of Winston’s speech and the rest of the premier episode of Showtime’s “A Season With Florida State Football” on Showtime tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Bryan Altman is, for some reason, an unabashed fan of the Rangers, Jets and Mets. If he absolutely had to pick a basketball team it would be the Knicks, but he’d gladly trade them for a championship for any of his other three teams.
