UFC fans have been wondering since her defeat at the hands of Holly Holm last winter when former women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey would make her return to the octagon. Rumors suggested that maybe UFC 200 would be the night, but it wasn’t to be. Now, in the wake of the championship in her division changing hands once again via Amanda Nunes’ knockout of Miesha Tate on Saturday night, Rousey herself has sparked speculation with a new commercial.
The ad, done by UFC apparel sponsor Reebok, features Rousey taking off different aspects of her make-up and taping up her hands before she starts hitting the heavy bag. Rousey shared the commercial on her Instagram account last night.
The message, “Perfect never gets a shot at redemption”, would seem to allude to the fighter’s previously spotless record prior to the loss to Holm. Rousey said herself in the months after the Holm fight that it made her feel “really (expletive) sad“. It would seem that Rousey has now come to terms with that loss and as she says at the end of the commercial “Yeah, I’m fine not being perfect.” UFC fans are surely waiting to hear when the star will come back to challenge for the title.
