Over the last week, there has been a bit of controversy over two wrestling legends: Taz and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. While both celebrities have their own shows, Taz has been hosting a feature called Hump Day Promo for a year giving fans a chance to display their creativity on a topic of Taz’s choosing. Recently, Johnson’s show has adopted a very similar strategy for his Rock The Promo.
Taz, host of “The Taz Show, Bodyslams and Beyond” on the Play.it podcast network, housed on CBS’ Radio.com, took to twitter last week to discuss this after being a bit confused over the similarities.
“My initial, impulsive reaction was to say on twitter ‘Rocky, what are you doing here, bro?’ It was no insult, there was no twitter beef,” said Taz. “I was not attacking him, I was not angry.
Johnson shot a video for Taz’s show to talk a bit about the controversy.
“There’s no beef, whatever it was, it got squashed,” said Johnson. “It spiraled out of control as often things do as they hit social media and that was the issue.”
He went on to explain “whether it’s Hump Day Promo on Taz’s Radio Show or whether it’s Rock The Promo on our YouTube channel, The Rock YouTube Channel, it’s all about the fans and all about the fans having fun.
“That’s a great job by a high-class, high-road professional and a friend,” said Taz in response to the video. “I hope Rock The Promo is highly successful and Hump Day Promo will continue success…maybe the two worlds collide; I’d love to do a little competition.”
It looks like the two icons have nothing but respect for each other. There was one part Taz chose not to respond to.
“You still owe me dinner you son of a b—-,” said Johnson.
Good thing Taz didn’t edit it out, right?
