Diamondbacks Mascot Loses His Cool After Flying Bat Nearly Hits Him

Bryan Altman, CBS Local Sports

Flying wooden bats are one of the scariest things in baseball and can cause seriously harm to players and spectators as we’ve seen one too many times over the years.

Thankfully, when Addison Russell’s bat when careening into the stands, nobody was hurt.

To say nobody was riled up by the incident, however, would be false.

The flying lumber nearly decapitated the Diamondbacks’ mascot, Baxter, and he completely and hilariously lost it.

If I were Russell, I’d be looking over my shoulder the next time I walk into Chase Field.

Oh, and the Cubs won 14-6.

Bryan Altman is, for some reason, an unabashed fan of the Rangers, Jets and Mets. If he absolutely had to pick a basketball team it would be the Knicks, but he’d gladly trade them for just one championship for any of his other three teams.
