LOOK: Bill Murray Is Absolutely Crushed That Xavier Lost To Wisconsin

Bryan Altman, CBS Local Sports

Bill Murray is one of the rare public figures in America that is pretty much universally beloved. Doesn’t matter where you’re from, what you believe in, what god you pray to, ETC… you probably love Bill Murray.

So by default, if we all love Murray and thereby want the best for someone we love, do we now hate Wisconsin – and Bronson Koenig – by default?

In case you haven’t been paying attention, No. 7 seeded Wisconsin and Koenig just absolutely stunned No. 2 seed Xavier with a last-second shot from Koenig (as seen above). And if you further weren’t aware, Murray has been living and dying with every bucket rooting for the Xavier Musketeers these days.

And finally, if you’re wondering why, here’s the scoop from Yahoo.com’s Eric Freeman, who says that “Murray’s son Luke is in his first season as an assistant coach on Chris Mack’s staff after several seasons spent at other schools.”

Fair enough.

Anyway, Koenig’s incredible corner three with time expiring knocked Xavier – and logically Murray’s son – out of the NCAA Tournament. Understandably, this has left Murray unhappy.

Sad Bill Murray makes me sad, but I have no Wisconsin affiliation and watching Koenig drain that shot made me happy. It’s really an emotional roller coaster.

Oh well,  just March Madness being March Madness I suppose.

Bryan Altman is, for some reason, an unabashed fan of the Rangers, Jets and Mets. If he absolutely had to pick a basketball team it would be the Knicks, but he’d gladly trade them for just one championship for any of his other three teams.
